Austin Wayne Self has been racing for thirteen years. That might not seem remarkable … until you consider that he’s just seventeen years old.
Austin’s love for racing began at age 4 when he and his Dad started racing Karts together as a Father-Son bonding experience. He got behind the wheel of his first #07 car and won! That experience solidified his love for the sport, and he’s won numerous races since. Thousands of hours have been spent practicing, training and honing his skills. Austin has the focus, determination and desire to win every time he gets on the track.
Austin has been behind the wheel of the No. 07 Sport Clips/Big Red Chevrolet Impala in the 2012 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series and has landed a spot in Cunningham Motorsports’ No. 22 Dodge for at least five ARCA short-track races during the 2013 season. (Cunningham is the Official Driver Development Team for Penske Racing.)
