Superfunkybass! That’s what Doug Johns promises, and listening to the guy at www.dougjohns.com, you gotta agree that he brings it. The guy hails from Cleveland, and his second record, Pocket Fulla Nasty, came out in 2008. Go buy it on iTunes or something, whydon’tcha? It’s crazy virtuosic jazz-funk fusion, like the soundtrack to a 21st Century blaxploitation film, in space. Or something, I dunno. But take my feeble word for it: the guy has a real voice as a player and composer. And I don’t know how he does some of the things he does with only ten fingers.
