“Never eat anything bigger than your head,” the saying goes … but what if you could print a sticker bigger than your head?

Way bigger.

Hang onto your hats. Our fully digital full-color printing process allows us to print stickers all the way up to 18 inches by 24 inches.

That’s bigger than Jay Leno’s Cadillac DeVille-sized noggin. Bigger than Michael Moore’s massive potato head. Bigger than Conan O’Brien’s notoriously large red-headed dome.

We’re talkin’ BIG, baby … we’re talkin’ celebrity size!

Imagine your adhesive-backed artwork with four hundred and thirty two square inches of digitally printed magnificence in eye-popping color.

That’s even bigger than William Shatner’s Intergalactic Head!

Howard Stern’s mop might peek out a bit, but you get the idea …

Looking for something completely different for your next backyard barbeque? Something to set your party off from every other party on the block this summer?

Have you considered hiring a mobile tattoo parlor? If you’re in Southern California, you’re in luck.

The Body Art Bus rolls out of Fallbrook and is SoCal’s only fully licensed mobile tattoo studio. This is not some sketchy rusted out van you’ll find down by the river. It’s modded from stem to stern and covered in awesome artwork, guaranteed to scare and inspire the kids. Step inside and you’re in another world …

The black and white line artwork on the Body Art Bus skull sticker is truly superb. The red lettering jump off the patch on the skull’s trucker hat, straight into your eyeballs. The die-cut is to die for … it ensures that the image will levitate off whatever surface it’s stuck to.

Hats off to Joey, Jordan, Anthony, and Josh for seeing the bigger picture …

We believe that giving back to the community in our own, unique way is something that is very important for people to realize that we are not just tattoo artists, but we are real people with kids, families, and friends and a community that we can benefit.

Before you consider having a tattoo party, be sure to check out this public service announcement:

“If Opportunity Doesn’t Knock, Build a Door.”

While Milton Berle (a.k.a.: Uncle Miltie) was known for a lot of zany stuff, this quote is crystal clear.

Milton was the child of a paint salesman and a department store detective. His film career began with an appearance in the 1914 silent film classic, The Perils of Pauline where, as legend has it, he was thrown from a speeding train. At the age of six.

It was all uphill from there.

His silent film career spanned more than fifty films. While Milton went onto Broadway, vaudeville, the talkies, and radio, it was television that brought him the greatest success. His Texaco Star Theater, first broadcast in 1948 opened Milton’s largest door.

When Milton originally went on the air, there were only 500,000 sets in the entire country. By mid-season, the number had skyrocketed to over a million and by 1954, mote than 26 million American homes had at least two television sets. He is reputed to have sold more television sets than any advertising campaign. – (the official Milton Berle website)

While there’s an element of luck in everything, opportunity awaits only those that seek it.

It’s up to you to build that door …

And now, for something you’ve likely never seen before. Milton Berle with Harpo Marx, from the days when television was something special:

If you want to create magical stickers, you’ve got to start with some strong artwork. The expertly illustrated artwork on the license plate stickers we recently printed for AlaskaGuideList.com is proof in point. It absolutely jumps off the page with an awesome three dimensional effect.

It’s easy to see why digitally printed license plate stickers are so popular these days. A methodical approach to semi-transparent shadows and highlights in Adobe Illustrator (or your tool of choice) can quickly impart that all-important 3D look.

AlaskaGuideList.com will help you find your way to some of the finest fishing, lodging, and gear in North America, with “product news and updates for the Professional Alaska Fishing & Hunting Community.” It’s no secret that Alaska is a fly fisher’s paradise, but it can be tough to get to the coolest spots. Alaska is our nation’s most sparsely populated state and you don’t want to head out there alone.

So hop on the list, get on course, and rest assured: “Each professional involved with AlaskaGuideList is registered and licensed with the State of Alaska and must renew annually to remain in good standing.”

Ready for a Tuesday Trivia Question?

Q: What popular sport fish is not native to Alaska?

Rainbow Trout

Dolly Varden Char

Striped Bass

Sockeye Salmon

Steelhead Trout

.

.

.

.

.

A: Why, the Striped Bass, of course!

What’s the fastest growing team sport in America?

While the answer may be up to debate, a lot of folks will proudly say: LACROSSE!

LAXAllStars.com was founded by Jeff Brunelle, Connor Wilson and Ryan Craven in 2010. As former NCAA and MCLA college lacrosse players, Jeff, Connor and Ryan saw the need for a media outlet with content provided by players, for players.

The goal? Grow the Game.

Serving an audience of over 300,000 hardcore lacrosse fans worldwide, Lacrosse All Stars (LAS) hosts a network of independent blogs and produces its own compelling content on a daily basis. The LAS platform empowers passionate lacrosse fans to make their voices heard.

The website is packed with game recaps, player interviews, lifestyle articles, training advice and reports on all the coolest new lacrosse gear.

We recently printed Lacrosse All Stars’ super cool red, white and blue stickers. They’re totally legit. If you play lacrosse, you need one …

Which brings us to the this week’s Trivia Topic:

Q: How many kids currently play lacrosse in the United States?

200,000

300,000

400,000

500,000

.

.

.

.

.

.

A: Approximately 400,000, according to US Lacrosse, the National Governing Body of Lacrosse in the United States.

Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing team sports in the United States. Youth participation in the sport has grown over 77% since 2006 to nearly 400,000 in 2012. No sport has grown faster at the high school level over the last 10 years and there are now an estimated 282,000 high school players. Lacrosse is also the fastest-growing sport over the last nine years at the NCAA level with 671 college teams in 2012, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

While some folks are perfectly happy with Adobe Illustrator’s “factory” default settings, a custom default fill and stroke can help to increase your productivity (and ease your creative flow).

The default fill/outline in Adobe Illustrator is a white fill with a black stroke.

To change the default fill and outline swatches:

Change the stroke and fill to the desired colors. (In this example, we will use a one hundred percent cyan fill with no stroke.)

Next, open the Graphic Styles palette and click the New Graphic Style icon to create a new style from the current stroke and fill.

Hold the Option key and drag the new graphic style swatch over the first swatch in the Graphic Styles palette.

Now, when you hit the D key, the default colors will be the newly selected colors.

Gotta find a new place where the kids are hip and the waves are gnarly?

Wrightsville Beach is a North Carolina barrier island, located between Cape Hatteras (to the north) and Myrtle Beach (to the south). Wrightsville’s acclaimed John Nesbitt Loop stretches for nearly two and a half miles and is a well-traveled path for runners, joggers, and folks just out for a casual stroll.

Want to know when the tide’s out? The Wrightsville Beach Loop website provides a wealth of info on what’s happening, from webcams (Looper Star, Beach Cam, and Banks Channel), surf, weather, and tide information. You’ll find links to a slew of local surf reports and cams.

The Loop is the epicenter for all that’s fantastic about Wrightsville Beach. Thousands of people round the Loop in the name of health and clean living during the work week. People of all ages and all walks of life can be found on the Loop at all hours of the day and night. Everyone is represented whether it be the new mom getting her stroll on with her baby or the elite level triathalon athlete (sometimes they are one in the same)!

Slap a Wrightsville Beach Loop oval sticker on the tail of your beach buggy and you’ll pay homage to that seaside circle of sidewalk, no matter where your travels take you. And remember … it’s nearly impossible to have too many oval beach stickers on your bumper …

C’mon, kids … it’s the weekend! Lets pack up the Country Squire and head out to Farmingdale for a day full of fun!

Nothing screams summer like a ride on a great roller coaster, and Adventureland has been bringing those squeals of joy to thrill-seeking Long Islanders for half a century.

Their thrill rides include the Hurricane Coaster, the Pirate Ship, and the Frisbee. You’re bound to get giddy crashing into your buddies on the bumper cars or scared senseless in the Ghost House. And what better way to cool off on a hot day than a good old log flume? If it gets too hot, you can pop into their climate controlled arcade to play a few rounds of Skee-ball or test your chances with the Giga-Cranes.

When the day is done, you’ll be proud to slap a super cool sticker on the tailgate … and this one’s a beauty to behold! Adventureland superhero mascot, Alfie is depicted in full glorious color with an awesome die-cut that works together with the artwork’s 3D shading to make this sticker really pop.

Check out this video for info on the changes that Adventureland has made for the 2013 season …

Props to Adventureland for stepping up their environmental efforts in 2013 with the installation of 228 solar panels on the roof of their maintenance building!

Does anything great happen without a dream?

When a thought first enters your head, it floats around a bit. The wind might blow it through one ear and out the other, or it might settle down for a stay. Over time, that thought might sprout, embed itself and grow roots. It might be a while before the thought manifests into a dream.

The only thing that stands between you and your dream is the will to try and the belief that it is actually possible. – Joel Brown

The deeper those roots, the more steadfast you become in your resolve that the thought blossoms and the dream becomes a reality. It’s not always easy to fully believe it before it actually happens, but you must make the effort and visualize both success and life on the other side of the finish line.

Or as Yoda says …

Leavenworth Mountain Association’s mission is to foster safe, healthy, and environmentally conscious mountain recreation through the establishment of high quality educational programs and the development of community resources for youth and adults in the Greater Wenatchee Valley.

This gorgeous circular sticker uses flat colors to great effect. The sticker appears to be a traditional linoleum block or wood cut print at first glance, when in fact, it’s digitally printed. Super cool. Super retro … kinda like the town of Leavenworth, which was was modeled after a Bavarian village back in the 1960s.

And now, for some trivia …

Wenatchee Valley is host to acres upon acres of apple orchards and has earned the moniker “Apple Capital of the World.”

Q: What is the most popular apple grown in Washington State?

Gala

Granny Smith

Red Delicious

Fuji

Golden Delicious

.

.

.

.

.

.

A: According to the Washington State University, the Red Delicious remains the most popular apple grown in Washington State, holding a 30% market share (as of 2010).

The best way to see the City by the Bay isn’t in a tour bus. It’s on a bike.

The Streets of San Francisco Bike Tour guides are consummate pros that specialize in personalized service. They’ve crawled all over San Fran to find the coolest, can’t miss spots to see. They’ve plotted easy-to-ride routes that avoid those tortuous hills.

Four tour routes are offered: Heart of the City, The Classic, The Classic East, and 7×7. They range from nine miles (Heart of the City) to eighteen miles (7×7). Riders must be at least thirteen years of age.

Rest assured, safety is a priority; you’ll travel via “San Francisco’s safest bike lanes, bike routes, and quiet streets” on comfortable bikes that have been designed for metropolitan adventures.

SOSF’s super cool circular sticker conveys a spirit of American adventure with a bold graphic design. This is a badge of honor that you would be proud to slap on the tailgate of the Family Truckster.

Back in 1977, Star Wars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and Saturday Night Fever, were the top grossing movies. Jimmy Carter took office, vinyl was fading, cassette tapes ruled the day, compact discs hadn’t hit the scene, and those clunky old 8-track cartridges were still hanging around. Donna Summer released her sixth record album, Once Upon a Time, a double album extravaganza.

She failed to crack the top 100 with a single.

Once Upon a Time in 1977 is a “disco-centric science fiction adventure” film by Chris and Anne Lukeman of Kill Vampire Lincoln Productions, in Champaign, Illinois.

In the probably-alternate 1970s, disco is king and tensions are high. Scientist heroes Jack and Sam try to balance normal family lives with ray guns, robots, and an ominous portal in time and space.

Disco jeans and haircuts! It’s 28 minutes of Retro Disco Sci-Fi.

Once Upon a Time in 1977 screened at the New Art Film Festival in Champaign last month. While it doesn’t appear that a trailer has hit the Internet (yet), here’s a slightly earlier incarnation (Once Upon a Time in 1972) of Chris and Anne’s awesome work …

We recently printed this super cool set of colorful stickers for singer-songwriter Will McCranie. Will is currently in the studio with producer/musician Matty Amendola, recording I Know I Didn’t Know Anything, his first full-length album. The album is due this fall.

If you happen to be down South, you’re in luck. The month of June will be packed with Will’s live solo performances, including six shows in Georgia and one in Tennessee:

Whether you’re orbiting the Earth, or circling a soccer ball, setting text around a round path is one of the most common tasks in sticker design. While Adobe Illustrator makes this a snap, the procedure can be a little daunting if you’ve never done it before.

With that in mind, here’s a cool little step-by-step tutorial that demonstrates the basics …

To put text around a circle in Adobe Illustrator, start by creating a circle shape or a round image.

Center the circle on the art board, using the Align tools.

Create a path for the type by selecting the circle and clicking Object > Path > Offset Path.

Select the Type on a Path tool from the Type tool flyout menu.

Add some type along the path.

Drag a guide from the Rulers to help align the text.

Drag the text path handles to the points where the guide meets the circle.

Center the text, using the Align Center command.

Voilà! You now have text set around a circle.

This sticker we recently printed for the Arkansas Canoe Club is a great example of circular text:

One of my fondest memories as a kid was visiting the Museum of Natural Science in New York City. Those gigantic dinosaur skeletons left an indelible impression on my tiny and not-yet-fully-formed brain. Flash forward all these years and I’m the dinosaur.

In the spirit of mind-expansion, it’s Trivia Tuesday and today we have not just one, but two fabulous questions …

Q. Where is the Oklahoma Museum of Popular Culture located?

.

.

.

.

.

A: Trick Question! It’s not located anywhere … yet …

The OKPOP Museum, to be located in the Brady Arts District of Tulsa, will be a 75,000 square–foot, four story building dedicated to the creative spirit of Oklahoma’s people and the influence of Oklahoma artists on popular culture around the world.

We can’t help but love pop culture here at StickerGiant. After all, we help designers create it, every day!

Q: Hee Haw was one of America’s most beloved TV variety shows. While the show oringinally ran from 1969 through 1971 on CBS, it’s been in syndication for decades. In what fictional location did Hee Haw take place?

.

.

.

.

.

.

A: Why, Kornfield Kounty, of course!

Hee Haw aficionados take note: the Oklahoma Historical Society sponsored “Pickin’ and Grinnin’: Roy Clark and the Legacy of Hee Haw.”

We’ve all sat through one (or a hundred) too many boring PowerPoint presentations. And we’ve all labored to create decks with the hope of not putting the audience to sleep.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

Giant Thinkwell has designed a presentation tool unlike any other. An iPad app without parallel.

Haiku Deck has a noble goal:

We feel crafting a compelling story should be a joyful creative exercise. We believe everyone has amazing stories and ideas, and we’re here to help you set your story free.

Effective presentations engage the audience and sell the dream.

Kinda like stickers. Okay, maybe not exactly like stickers.

The Haiku Deck logo is reminiscent of the NBC Peacock … one of the greatest logos of all time. Primary colors with translucence, an origami bird in flight, elegance in simplicity.

Traveling with an iPad – rather than a laptop – lightens your load. Access to a world of high-quality photographs takes your ideas to the next level. Haiku Deck interprets the words you type into your presentation and instantly returns a list of Creative Commons photos.

Think: Simple. Elegant. Fast … your words into pictures … your thoughts into a presentation.

Watch this:

Friday’s the day when we like to do Behind the Scenes posts here on the StickerGiant blog. Well, that’s the plan, at least.

On Monday, I have Friday on my mind. On Friday, I think of beer.

Monday morning feels so bad
Everybody seems to nag me
Come on Tuesday I feel better
Even my old man looks good
Wednesday just won’t go
Thursday goes too slow
I’ve got Friday on my mind

Gonna have fun in the city
Be with my girl, she’s so pretty
She looks fine tonight
She is outa’ sight to me

Tonight, I’ll paint it red
Tonight, I’ll lose my head
Tonight, I’ve got to get tonight
Monday I have Friday on my mind

- George Young/Harry Vanda

We recently printed a set of positively splendid beer bottle labels for Crooked Fence Brewing’s Rusty Nail Red Pale Ale. The Rolling Stones wanted you to Paint it Black. The Easybeats say, Paint it Red.

And what better way to paint it red than with Rusty Nail Red Pale Ale?

If you’re not 21 years of age, you can’t view Crooked Fence’s website. But they have a marvelous surprise for you, anyway. I won’t give it away. Just go check it out.

Right after you watch the Easybeats …
