How to Read Fruit Stickers

StickerGiant prints fruit stickers. Recently we wrote about art created from these prevalent stickers, so I thought I'd expand on these wonderful little edible ovals. I was shopping at a local farmers market this summer and I noticed that none of the fruit had any of those supermarket stickers. This made me think, most people have no idea what they mean, so here is a little guide for a grocery store fruit consumer.
- A four-digit number means it was conventionally grown
- A five-digit number beginning in "9" means it is organic
- A five-digit number beginning in "8" means it was genetically modified.
The stickers are printed on a non-toxic paper, printed with non-toxic ink and coated with a edible non-toxic adhesive.
