Haynes has argued that prisoners from Afghanistan can be detained indefinitely, even if they are acquitted in a military tribunal. A military law specialist said: If I came out of the woods after 20 years and saw these rules, I'd think Adolf Hitler or Joseph Stalin wrote them.
