Requirements for Electronics Art

Art that doesn't follow these requirements may delay your order & incur additional charges.

Send art in a vector-based program (Freehand or Illustrator) for best results.

Include all linked images and original parent files.

Convert fonts to paths or outlines, including fonts in linked images; otherwise, send all screen fonts & printer fonts.

For art in a raster-based program:

Not recommended for spot-color printing (results can appear "fuzzy").

If you must use raster for spot colors, separate each ink color using channels or separate files.

300 dpi minimum at 100% for grayscale, duotone, and CMYK Photoshop files.

600 dpi minimum at 100% for bitmap files.

Art for CMYK Printing

Files for 4 color process printing must be color correct and in CMYK mode.

PDF files cannot be used unless accompanied by all supporting files.

8 pt. is the smallest type size for CMYK build.

Type smaller than 8 pt. must be separated as a spot color, or enlarged.

Reverses smaller than 8 pt. must be enlarged.

When sending art, remember

Note the design software & version used on your purchase order.

If file doesn't show actual ink colors to print, note the correct colors on your order.

Provide art at actual size and include crop or corner marks, or a die line, to show position.

Artwork must be provided in an editable format.

If art prints to the edge of the label, extend art 1/8" beyond the edge (for the bleed).

PDF Files

We cannot accept PDFs for CMYK printing unless accompanied by all supporting files (the compression inherent in making PDFs can reduce the quality of placed images).

For spot color printing, we can usually work with PDFs.

Files with placed raster images must be accompanied by the supporting files.

Make sure the PDF is not password-protected.
