Plynosaur-sticker-story

It was truly a pleasure to connect with Trace O'Connor, one of the life-size retroskeleton sculpture artists behind the Fort Collins, CO based company Plynosaur.com. The company perked our interest recently after watching an awesome video that covers their craft in action (view the clip below). We were further impressed by their interview submission where Trace intrigued us with his unique sense of humor and passion for childhood nostalgia. But don't just take our word for it, like Plynosaur Dot Com on Fb and read on to find out why we think this fun-loving company is worth a look:

Q&A with Trace O'Connor

What do people really dig about your product/services?:

At Plynosaur, we like to think that our approach to sculpture both takes people back to a little place in their childhood and also to a place they wish they'd been able to go in those moments. How awesome would it have been if you'd said "Gosh Golly Gee! I only wish this toy here that I just assembled were life-size.... Oh well." and *NAMacadabra!*, it was big enough to tote off that annoying kid in your class in its jaws...

Who are the awesome people behind the curtain at your company/project and what do they do?:

Jordan Gottsacker: Branding Aesthetician

Steve Gartner: Logistics Momentum Consultant

Trace O'Connor: Retroskeletastic Mastermind

Jordan Q. Twiggs, Digital Problem-Melter

Why/How do you use stickers as a marketing or outreach tactic?:

Yay northern Colorado: one sticker size is for bike frames and growlers. One size is for laptops, water bottles and use as business cards.

What advice would you give to a company thinking about using stickers as a marketing tactic to wow their fans. What has worked for you, what hasn’t, etc?:

Plynosaur is brand (hah!) new, so advice isn't my strong suit regarding stickers yet. People just toss out business cards a lot of the time. I read once that utility is the way to go with branding and promo materials. Magnets, pencils, buttons and of course the quintessential, well-designed sticker can't possibly be thrown out!

“People love free stuff…” —STICKER Story John Frazee, Gravity Brewing

Gravity Brewing owner John Frazee is a former engineer turned craft brewer and has been brewing beer for 16 years. Located in the small town of Louisville, Colorado Gravity Brewing represents the best of local craft beer in a venue that inspires community.

Gravity Brewing is only a hop, skip, and a jump away from StickerGiant headquarters, so we couldn't pass up the chance to take a field trip with our film crew for an interview. It was particularly enlightening to hear about the ways Gravity prefers to rep their stickers for brand recognition. The overwhelming response? Festival swag. John says stickers are an easy and affordable way to spread the Gravity Brewing vibe. At Gravity, they love their customers. "Stickers help show fans how much they care." says John, and we couldn't agree more.

Q&A with John Frazee

What do people really dig about your product/services?:

I believe people like the fact that we always have a wide variety of high quality beer styles available. There is that saying, "Quality, not Quantity." Why settle for just one? We strive to have both. Belgian, German, American, etc. Session beers, big beers (although we lean towards the latter). We are excited to try it all and not cut any corners in the process.

Who are the awesome people behind the curtain at your company/project and what do they do?:

My two business partners are Julius Hummer (Brewmaster) and Ryan Bowers (Managing Partner). Julius has been brewing professionally his entire adult life and is the son of David Hummer (Original Founder/Brewmaster of Boulder Beer/Brewing Co). Ryan is a Mechanical Engineer and craft beer lover. He is an extreme resource when it comes to brewery design/engineering and business finance.

As for myself, I am a former long time home-brewer and practicing Civil Engineer. Julius and myself conceive and brew all of our beers together. I also manage the business, which is much less glamorous. We could not do any of this without our awesome tasting room staff: Steve, Abby, Kristy, Kat, Jenni, Karen, and several other friends/family/investors that have helped along the way.

Why/How do you use stickers as a marketing or outreach tactic?:

People love free stuff. We hand out our stickers in our tasting room and at beer festivals. This is a simple and relatively inexpensive way to get our logo and brand in front of the beer drinking community and beyond. It is really cool when I'm out skiing and I see a Gravity sticker on a pair of skis or a helmet. People love to put them on their beer fridges as well.

What advice would you give to a company thinking about using stickers as a marketing tactic to wow their fans. What has worked for you, what hasn’t, etc?:

Stickers are a no brainer in the craft beer world. Get them and never run out of them. Stick with a simple and consistent image/logo and use StickerGiant!!

List some ways that fans can support your brand to encourage growth apart from buying your product or service?:

We'd like to think we are pretty good at making beer, however, we will admit that we are not the best at marketing/advertising. If you like what your tasting and seeing, please spread the word. Like us on Facebook. Follow us on twitter. Join our e-mail list via our website. Grab some stickers next time we see you at the tasting room or a beer festival. Buy a cool t-shirt, hat, or hoodie and wear them all over town, every day, even when you sleep.
Attach a file or just a fun picture that speaks to your passions!

“More Stickers on the Streets, More Recognition…” —STICKER Story: Dustin Spagnola, Artist

Dustin Spagnola is what some might call an unapologetic artist with a keen eye for social commentary. A prolific street artist (among other mediums), Spagnola is anything but the fame seeking type. This no doubt adds to his street cred appeal. After researching Spagnola for this blog piece, we quickly discovered that his visual art speaks in a way that text struggles to accurately convey. You truly have to see it for yourself:

From time to time, StickerGiant has the pleasure of working with Spagnola and we enjoy translating his art into sticker from.  So when discussions began about proliferating blog pieces featuring actual sticker customers, our staff immediately thought of Spangnola.

“Our community of gamers is expanding…” —STICKER Story Josef Kulovany, Stealth Machines

stealth-machines-sticker-story-sticker-giant-josef-kulovany-sticker-giant

Josef Kulovany is Founder at Stealth Machines: a custom gaming computer company out of Fort Collins, Colorado.

They know gaming computers. Stealth Machines assembles high powered gaming computers by hand. Their quality gaming computers have received acclaim near and far. Stealth Machine's hands-on approach to customer service sets them apart, but perhaps their most differentiating market feature is their five-year warranty.

Q&A with Josef Kulovany

What do people really dig about your product/services?:
Our customers like our no-nonsense attitude, quality customer support, industry-leading warranty period, and of course we know gaming. Our website is easy to use, our community of gamers is ever-expanding, and our soon-to-be -released NightHawk computer case is sure to be a big success... especially with our new Vinyl logo stamped on the front of it!

Who are the awesome people behind the curtain at your company/project and what do they do?:

Josef - Owner - Everything else not done by our awesome staff

Ed - Lead System Builder - Puts the computers together and answers the phone

Damon- System Builder - Put the computers together

Nick - Marketing Guru - Helps us with all things marketing, including stickers!

Joel- Designer - designs everything for us, including our stickers!

Amitav- Webmaster

Stefan - Product Designer - Helped come up with the NightHawk computer case, and future manufacturing projects

Pablo - Engineer - Helps finalize the work produced by Stefan

Why/How do you use stickers as a marketing or outreach tactic?:

Stickers are a cost-effective way to promote our product via the most effective marketing method... word of mouth. When we give our customers stickers with the computers we build, they love them, they stick them, and then everyone who sees the stickers finds out about us!

Stickers are also a vital method of branding our computer cases. Using StickerGiant's unique Die Cut , mirror finish vinyl, we are able to use the space on our finished product to advertise our brand whilst simultaneously improving the aesthetic appeal of the finished product.

What advice would you give to a company thinking about using stickers as a marketing tactic to wow their fans. What has worked for you, what hasn't, etc?:

Stickers are great for branding the finished product, as extra goodies to include with the finished product, and for general promotional purposes. When we took your stickers to the PAX East convention in Boston, the stickers were a smash hit!
