StickerGiant and Ignite Talks join forces

Today we're proud to announce a formal partnership with the parent group of all Ignite Talks, where we'll provide stickers for their events all over the world. We're over the moon because we love the Ignite team, and we love how their events bring people together for fast-paced delight and inspiration.

Ignite’s mission is “Everyone Speaks.” They believe that public speaking builds confidence in individuals and that events like Ignite build community. Their goal is to make it possible for anyone, anywhere to learn how to present their ideas and their stories.

The history of Ignite Talks

The first Ignite took place in Seattle in 2006, and since then the event has become an international phenomenon. Ignite is a series of events where speakers have five minutes to talk on a subject accompanied by 20 slides, for 15 seconds each, automatically advanced. Ignite started in Seattle, and it has spread to over 350 organizing teams in cities, universities, governments and companies who have hosted thousands of events.

Brady Forrest and Bre Pettis started the first Ignite and recruited O'Reilly Media and MAKE magazine as sponsors. O'Reilly continued to support Ignite until November 2015 when the franchise returned to founder, Brady Forrest, who created a Public Benefit Corporation around Ignite Talks, and thus Ignite Talks PBC was born. Now it's an independent organization focusing on supporting Ignite events around the world and promoting public speaking.

We've been sponsoring Ignite Talks for some time, starting with Ignite Boulder, one of the largest Ignite communities in the world. Over the years, we've printed name tag stickers, logo stickers, and we've even attended the event and volunteered our team as live stream and production help. We believe in local giving and participation, and it's how we give back to the Boulder community that supports our business.

Here's a classic Ignite Talk from Scott Berkun, all about how to give an Ignite Talk.

Ignite SF 14: Back and better than ever

On to tonight's event and our featured city: San Francisco. Ignite San Francisco returns for their 14th edition. Ignite San Francisco is the Bay Area’s volunteer-run chapter of Ignite Talks--a global event series of speedy presentations. We bring the community together three times a year for a night of entertainment on a diverse variety of topics. They have the awesome clear sticker you see above with the custom shape of the Ignite Talks logo, the red spaceship looking Sutro Tower and the fog and clouds that are the Bay Area's signature weather pattern.

Global Ignite Week: Sparks will fly and name tags will unite at tonight's Ignite Boulder 32

It's time for one of our favorite community sponsorships, Ignite Boulder, back for the 32nd edition live at the Boulder Theater. And it's also Global Ignite Week, so we'll enjoy watching the sparks fly worldwide. We've printed our share of their name tags over the years. The organizing team always put a series of fun phrases on these custom square stickers.

Whenever we have our team manning the name tag table at this event, we see the social interaction around these stickers. There's always a conversation around these phrases, and the name tags serve as a natural icebreaker when you're in a room full of strangers watching someone else put on a short presentation. Since they typically print up about ten of these, there are plenty of options for attendees to express some personal style with the name tag they pick. Again, great for conversation starters and mingling before the show in the Boulder Theater (what a beautiful venue) and during setbreak out on the Pearl Street Mall in Downtown Boulder.

Ignite Talks are presenters of 20 slides that automatically advance every 15 seconds. The result is a fast and fun presentation which lasts just 5 minutes. If you can find an Ignite near your, add it to your dance card, circle it on your wall calendar, set that reminder in your calendar app--whatever you need to do to remember. We got a sneak preview of the speakers, and these sparks (or, Ignite Talk) look so fun. The topics cover a range of health and wellness, long distance swimming, alternative energy, intentional giving and other ideas that will make you think.

It's nearing the end of yet another Boulder Startup Week (one of our favorite local events!), so the geek flame will be on full burn.

You can follow the action live on Twitter, and check the Ignite Boulder website for the videos once they've posted--they are at the bottom of the page. We love to go back and watch videos from previous editions, as they certainly have their educational and inspirational qualities.

Ignite Boulder 31

We're back at the Boulder Theater tonight with sponsored name tag stickers for Ignite Boulder 31.

There's seven different whimsical (and a few downright LOL) name tags that will be on site, and as folks celebrate and mingling for the holidays, they can do so with some fun. They have seven different designs that are guaranteed to spark a conversation, which is the entire mission of Ignite Talks. We are a proud sponsor these events all over the country.
What is Ignite Boulder?

Ignite Boulder is a night of presentations on a variety of topics – with a twist. Each presentation has 20 slides, that automatically advance after 15 seconds. It is a worldwide movement, and Boulder hosts the largest in the world every 2 or 3 months.

What is it like? The talks (or sparks) are funny, interesting, nerdy, quick and from the heart. It is NOT a place to pitch your business or yourself. There will be a livestream going when the show starts at 7pm if you can't be in town for the show. Don't forget to dress up tomorrow! It's the holiday tradition.

All of their videos on YouTube so that you can watch them over and over. See them all here!

Full House at Ignite San Francisco 12

"With clouds as mean as you've ever seen. Ain't a bird who knows your tune. Then a little (Ignite Talk) inside you Whispers, Kid don't sell your dreams, so soon..."

Ignite Talks are about sharing your interests and passions with the community. November 2nd, 2016 at the Marine Memorial Theatre is Ignite San Francisco 12. Doors at 7pm, Show at 8pm. In the spirit of all Ignite Talks, we print up their custom logo sticker with the sparks and the bright red Ignite branding, but with a Bay Area twist of the famed Sutro Tower and the iconic fog that collects around its base and in the hills and valleys of the San Francisco Peninsula.
The Ignite Talk challenge to the speaker is to: Enlighten us, but make it quick.

Ignite San Francisco is a night of speedy presentations. Presenting on a subject of their choice, speakers have exactly 5 minutes to teach something or simply inspire, but the twist is that the speaker has 20 slides that auto advance every 15 seconds. For Ignite SF 12, organizers are asking the speakers to share part of their world. To show us behind the curtain.

Ignite Denver 23

This weekend sparks will be flying at the Oriental Theater for Ignite Denver 23. Twelve speakers will take the stage to share their geeky passions and inspire the audience in an evening of five-minute presentations. Their sticker features the spark nodes and the bold red of the Ignite branding. It makes for a sweet laptop sticker to rep your Ignite pride. We've been sponsoring this event for a few years, and we are proud to be a silver sponsor for this wonderful community.

Since Ignite Talks are community run events, we wanted to give a huge shout out to the team organizing the night, the folks that took the time to craft a thoughtful spark, anyone who wanted to take the stage, and for sure all the people who have already bought a ticket to see the show live. It's a sold out show tonight, but we recommend streaming live to get inspired.

StickerGiant is always on board for sponsoring community events all around the country, and we are proud to be a long-time sponsor of Ignite Boulder. On Thursday night May 19th, as part of Boulder Startup Week, we'll be at the Boulder Theater live streaming from the @IgniteBoulder Periscope account and Ignite Boulder Facebook Live account for Ignite Boulder 29. We love the funny and ironic name tags that we print on our kiss cut stickers for each event.

Since it's Boulder Startup Week, and as is tradition, Ignite Boulder helps round out the week-long, community centered event that has taken over this growing mountainside enclave. If you are around Boulder, and you didn’t grab a ticket, you can put your name on the waitlist here.

Not sure what an Ignite talk means? It's a night of presentations on a variety of topics – with a twist. Each presentation has 20 slides, that automatically advance after 15 seconds. It is a worldwide movement, and Boulder hosts the largest in the world every 2 or 3 months. Check out some of the archived videos on their YouTube page. Below watch a playlist of the talks from the December Ignite Boulder 28.

It's worth the wait to check out one of Boulder’s top live community-run events. You can follow the action on Twitter, or one of the live streams.
