Where Do Stickers Go? Fans Give Permission.

Where Do Stickers Go

Where our stickers end up never ceases to amaze. We've seen stickers on the back of hundreds of laptops at events, we've spotted our labels on store shelves, and we've even followed along as one of our stickers made it as far as outer space, all in the pursuit of spreading brand awareness and harnessing more fans. But are your fans giving you permission to stick in their space and promote your stickers?

Back in 1999, legendary marketer Seth Godin wrote a book on the topic of permission marketing. He described it then as:
Permission marketing is the privilege (not the right) of delivering anticipated, personal and relevant messages to people who actually want to get them.

It recognizes the new power of the best consumers to ignore marketing. It realizes that treating people with respect is the best way to earn their attention.

When he launched his book, Godin says he "offered people a third of the book for free in exchange for an email address. And I never, ever did anything with those addresses again. That wasn't part of the deal. No follow ups, no new products. A deal's a deal." Now that's permission marketing in action.

In general, marketing should be something people want to participate in, not something that is forced on them, and this is why we at StickerGiant focus our marketing efforts on creating great content from our customer's stickers, because their stories are our story. We're in an age where consumers are bombarded with advertising and hashtags everywhere.

For StickerGiant customers, great designs get their customers, friends, and family to slap their stickers everywhere, and in the process proudly represent their business. But, to get people to perform this act for you, first you have get their permission.

The question for marketers is: How?

Types of Stickers to Engage Fans

Custom-Clear-Stickers-Journey

Custom Logo Stickers - a great, easy way to create a sticker that allows people to interact and share your brand. It's also a fun way to boost your social media content by tagging a sticker in pictures you are posting online. Making the stickers accessible to them is key, so think about best ways to distribute them and consider using them for contest giveaways.

Custom Sticker Sheets - these allow your creative team to have some fun, make multiple custom shapes that are kiss cut peel offs and encourage more interactions. They can match a current ad campaign, an assortment of different styles of your logo, or something we haven't seen before that gets us excited and blasting your stickers on Instagram.

Custom Clear Stickers - the difference is pretty clear, but the thing to keep in mind here is the design you want convey and how it will look. Also, white ink prints on clear. Great for the back of car windows and any glass surfaces.

The Little Details

StickerGiant-Choose-a-Size

Sticker Size is the most common mistake we see in sticker printing. Getting to the size page can be kind of daunting to be fair, but just remember we are talking permission here. Bigger sounds better but in a day and age of small mobile devices, ranging sizes of laptops, and more; people are less likely to actually represent your brand if you give them huge stickers. This is where the sticker sheets with multiple stickers can be fun but just keep in mind where you see your audience putting it. Sticker shock can kick in with an overload of fun, trust us! We change up laptop spreads at least monthly of stickers.

Quality over quantity?

In our opinion, there is nothing wrong with too many stickers. We have lots of stickers around for a rainy day, or if we decide to make it rain stickers, or build a Guinness World Record for the Largest Sticker Ball (Sticker Recycling ;). In all seriousness, quantity is really dependent on how many people you are trying to reach. We do have a 250 minimum, not to make you spend more, but because of our production process and the fact we'd use up that much material to print you 20 or 250. We opt to not waste and even give out extras in orders because of it.

You need to give your customer something that will last, otherwise your brand fades with the sticker. That's why all our stickers are made to last and we get all our material and laminates custom made and designed.

Final Word

Know this: Make sure the sticker has a relevant message. If it's not your logo, what is it saying about you? Is it engaging? A lot of it comes down to the design of the sticker matching your overall branding. Talk to your design team or if you don't have that luxury, we have a team that handles design services requests for stickers.

Most importantly, respect your customers and fans by giving them stickers they will value and slap on even their most precious personal possessions, like their child.

Back to the Huddle Board: Open Book Marketing with StickerGiant

Open Book Marketing

At StickerGiant, we run our business with a different kind of business model known as Open Book Management. This transparent approach to business creates a culture that empowers employees to dive into the numbers of a business and feel truly invested in the end results.

We have expanded our approach to Open Book Management and developed what we call "Open Book Marketing." The goal of this was to develop a line by line approach of statistics that drive traffic to new customer acquisition and ultimately effects every aspect of our business at StickerGiant.

Let's review the rules of Open Book Management that make it successful:

  • Know and Teach the Rules: Every employee should be given the measures of business success and taught to understand them

  • Follow the Action & Keep Score: Every employee should be expected and enabled to use their knowledge to improve performance

  • Provide a Stake in the Outcome: Every employee should have a direct stake in the company’s success-and in the risk of failure

Now, it is important to keep in mind that the execution of Open Book Marketing drives results on the main huddle board for the company and is ultimately a sub category of the goals of StickerGiant. This is a new way to further dive into the rules and keep score.

Breaking down the Marketing

Marketing Huddle Board

Marketing Huddle Board

Stickers are marketing. Our main slogan in marketing StickerGiant is "Every sticker has a story." We love our customers and love to see what the stickers and labels we make are used for. These are the stories we share. How do you measure the success?

Steps we take to breakdown Marketing:

  1. Every Tuesday after our main company huddle, the marketing team meets to go over the numbers for the previous week

  2. Just like the main huddle, we spend 20% of the time looking at what happened and 80% of the time looking ahead to the future and how to improve the numbers

  3. Each employee involved in the marketing efforts is responsible for lines related to their role. This creates more engagement, ownership, and accountability on the results.

  4. We plan out goals month to month for each line and each employee then forecasts, based on real time, what they expect to happen week to week.

  5. We then review how all these aspects of marketing are affecting the overall growth of the company and discuss ways to improve the customer experience.

So what are we looking at? New customers, social media engagement, blog sessions, referrals, Google Ad Words, and sponsorships. Every company will look at different numbers but these are what we focus on to drive StickerGiant to further success.

Every week these marketing huddles give us great insight into what we are doing and how it affects StickerGiant's ability to give you an awesome customer experience.

Sticker of Church Logo Embodies The Spirit of Community

JourneyChurch

In 2005 a journey for 16 people sitting in a living room in northwest San Antonio began.  They wanted to welcome people into a community and church that did not care about denominations.  What they cared about was helping people with a friendly community and to spread the word of the New Testament and discover God’s purposes.

In addition to their sermons, Journey Church also provides various Life Groups for people to partake in socially to help them feel like a more cohesive community.  These groups are usually held in a similar place to where Journey Church started; someone’s living room.

With two simple arches converging into one over the name of Journey Church on their sticker we see simplicity and partnership.  StickerGiant is proud to help Journey Church reach out with these beautiful simple stickers and let you know you’re not alone on your journey.

Ready to start a new journey of your own?  Contact StickerGiant to create your own stickers and journey down the road to building your own cohesive community.

Marketing Your Stickers in the Digital World

StickerGiant stickers can be used in the digital age, too!

There are only so many ways a sticker can be used in the real world, and if you're trying to successfully market your product then you've probably used (almost) all of them. Finding the right marketing strategies can be really time-consuming, even with a dedicated marketing person, so there's no better time than now to start harnessing the power of the digital revolution for daily marketing methods.

With the new year rapidly approaching, start getting your ideas into gear for a brand-new marketing launch in 2015. Stickers are no longer about the physical message they can spread, but the connection your customers and clients feel towards your brand as a whole. It's all about keeping your current customers satisfied and introducing yourself to new ones, and social media can play a bigger role in all of this than you could imagine.

Hashtags have exploded in popularity over the last few years thanks to Twitter, and other social media groups have gotten on board the bandwagon as well, with LinkedIn and Facebook joining the fray, too.

  • Create a special #hashtag for your company and use it in conjunction with the stickers, perhaps through a giveaway: whoever responds to your post with the specialty hashtag will be entered into a drawing for free stickers.

  • Or try it with coupon codes: the first 50 people to use this coupon code will receive free stickers with their order.

  • Another suggestion: social media sharing. Ask your customers to post pictures of your stickers and where they've put them, and double the impact by having them tag the pics with your specific hashtag. You might want to offer a giveaway or contest for those that participate, too, according to whatever promotions you have going on at the time.

As you can see, there are plenty of super creative uses for stickers both in real life and in the digital realm, all of which make for easy marketing campaigns should you choose to use them. If you're ready to grab some custom stickers of your own, you can start building your order and one of our Sticker Experts will make sure they're absolutely perfect and ready to go in no time.

Quinn Popcorn Loves Nature, Stickers - And You!

quinn popcorn stickers

For a company that has just six employees, Quinn Popcorn is simply living life the right way. They offer a veritable cornucopia of microwave popcorn flavors without all of the chemicals and fake ingredients that come with traditional brands, and with combinations like Vermont Maple & Sea Salt you would be doing yourself a great disservice by not popping this deliciousness in your mouth at every available chance.

Started in 2011 by husband-and-wife team Kristy and Coulter Lewis, Quinn Popcorn is based in Boulder, Colorado and named after their son. When they realized there were no quality microwave popcorn brands on the grocery store shelf, they set out to make their own and have over-delivered on freshness, flavor and customer service. Their popcorn is organic, all-natural, contains no GMO's and comes in a paper bag devoid of everything except, well, paper. No chemicals, no harm, no skimping on delightfulness - a fresh concept we can definitely get on board with!

In addition to their fun brand and quirky sense of humor, Quinn Popcorn loves stickers! Their own sticker is a brightly colored ear of corn, and they want people to know how much love they have for their company and the people who support them.

When visiting their location, you'll see they plaster stickers everywhere there's room, from microwaves to empty boxes. And not just their stickers, either: QP supports a number of brands and businesses, and is not shy about spreading the word via the sticker world. After all - if it's meant to stick somewhere, go ahead and show it off!

Behind the Sticker Curtain: StickerGiant Virtual Google Tour!

Get an insider's perspective at the StickerGiant World Headquarters

[Editor's Note: This is a tour from our new factory that you can find on our page and on Google Maps. Click inside the image to start manipulating the immersive tour. Follow the arrows to stroll through our production floor and check out the rest of our facilities. To make the map the whole screen, click the link below the pictures or the arrows in the top right of the image. Enjoy!]

We’re pretty stoked to announce a super-fun new feature to our website: Our very own Virtual Tour! Take a few minutes to digitally stroll our production floor, our shipping and receiving center, our meeting space and our call center--this is truly is where ALL of the sticker magic happens. Including a visit with Saul the World's Largest Sticker Ball.

Since we’re all about transparency and sharing cool technology, this new virtual walk through shows our customers how it all comes together from the inside, which is an indirect promotion of our brand. It’s the little things that we love to do that also help involve our customers on social media.

StickerGiant & Google for Business

If you’re familiar with Google Maps and their Street View program, you’ll recognize the internal navigation on the pictures and the panoramic style of imagery. If you haven’t heard of, or used, Street View, it’s pretty much one of the coolest things that Google has done. You can (virtually) walk to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, you can swim in the Great Barrier Reef, and you can see the Statue of Liberty. You can also see your office or home from Google Maps. It’s pretty incredible that most of the globe is mapped and photographed to this level, but leave it to Google to do just that.

Anyways, we were lucky to find a local, Google-Certified photographer to visit our location and shoot (for a reasonable fee) a series of panoramic images that were then stitched together in this virtual tour of our business. It’s a big part of Google’s Business Services, and it’s something that we’ve been using for years as part of our StickerGiant Local Listing page (or, what shows up when you Google “StickerGiant”). If you want to learn more about how StickerGiant uses Google as part of our business, we’d love to talk it over, so leave us a note in the comments.

Here’s a great Google for Business overview from Search Engine Land that ran in June when Google updated the administration area for their Business Pages. Ultimately, our customers are searching Google to find out about stickers, and our entire Google presence helps drive traffic to our website.

Treasure Hunt!

And, if you’re super astute, you’ll notice a few fun “easter eggs” that we hid in a few of the images. Let us know if you see or read anything that seems funny.
