Startup Weekend Stickers Headed to the French Riviera and Denver

StickerGiant-Sticker-Sheet-Startup-Weekend-Nice Sophia-Antipolis-2017-blog

We heading into the weekend with full head of entrepreneurial steam as a sticker sheet flies to France and a rectangle die cut visits Denver.

In true Startup Weekend form, participants have 54 hours starting Friday to bring a product to life. Developers, designers, tech experts, business people and just about anyone with a great idea who wants to participate will be gathering to pitch ideas, study competitors, prepare business plans, find marketing strategies and work with designers. But, this is not a solo process, as teams are formed and professional coaches assist with entrepreneurship tips and business creation strategies.

Saturday the rubber hits the road and it's all about rapid prototyping and ideation. By Sunday afternoon, teams will prepare their projects for a jury, and they will be briefed and trained by coaches with a slide deck. Then, Sunday night teams will present their projects and receive the best prices.

Let's start in France and then head to Colorado.

Startup Weekend Nice Sophia-Antipolis

The team in Nice Sophia-Antipolis for Startup Weekend Nice Sophia-Antipolis designed a great sticker sheet with ten different peel offs, as you can see above. They have their event hashtag #SWNSA in a bold font at the top, then they have some sea birds and palm trees and the Startup Weekend beach lounging on a beach--this is Nice, France after all. Big shoutout to the organizing team for their hard work on this sticker and in advance of their event. Lastly, thanks to the MAMAC Museum of Nice for hosting the closing ceremony where everyone can complete Startup Weekend in style with a cocktail.

Startup Weekend EDU Denver

In Denver, we are excited for Startup Weekend EDU Denver (SWEDU) where the name of the game is education. They went with a custom die cut rectangle sticker that has the Techstars Startup Weekend branding over the Denver Skyline and the letter C and sun graphic treatment from the State Flag of Colorado.

SWEDU is returning to Denver in 2017 for another great weekend of ideas, collaboration and innovation.  SWEDU brings together people of all skill sets and experience levels to work together to build tools, help schools and innovate with learning spaces to rethink the future of schools and education. Three cheers for the Organizing Team for their hard work.

Here's a short video about SWEDU Denver 2017.

Startup Weekend Education Twin Cities 2017

We are steam rolling into another weekend which can only mean one thing... time for another Startup Weekend. This week we are heading to Twin Cities Startup Weekend Education (SWEDU) where they are dialed in with a fun event and full color stickers with a picturesque shot.

The festivities kick off Friday, June 16th and run through Sunday, June 18th. It's all happening at the St. Catherine University located in St. Paul, the area is known as the Twin Cities because a river separates the cities  of St. Paul and Minneapolis. It creates one large metropolitan area with lots of creative thinkers and innovators.

So what happens at SWEDU?
Friday Night:
Anyone with any idea or problem broadly related to education has 60 seconds to pitch it to the whole group. After pitches, participants vote and form teams around the ideas they want to work on. After that, it’s all about action!

Saturday and Sunday are work days where teams will:

  • Validate their ideas by interviewing customers

  • Receive expert mentorship

  • Develop a business strategy

  • Build a prototype

Sunday Night:
SWEDU culminates with Shark Tank-style 5 minute final presentations & prototype demos. Winning projects earn ongoing support and opportunities to launch and further develop their business or non-profit idea.

Then at the end of it all, we have new startups in the community which is really what all these events are about. We are proud to be on of the sponsors this weekend providing the fun, colorful custom stickers as a takeaway for attendees. The picture on the sticker design proudly boasts the Twin Cities. Attendees will be able to slap it on to their laptops, computers and tablets to proudly boast they were part of creating a new startup idea over the course of one weekend.

Entrepreneurs gather in Mexico and France for Startup Weekend

The spirit of innovation is on tap for this weekend, with two events in Mexico and one in France. There are a couple fun sticker sheets and a custom shape sticker en route to these far-flung lands, all with great uses of color, local flavor and some fun iconography. You never know what you're gonna get out of a Startup Weekendit's all about invention, after allbut these folks know they are getting some great stickers.

Let's start our tour of these three Startup cities as they kick off their weekends.

Startup Weekend Internet of Things

Startup Weekend Internet of Things will be taking over Guadalajara, and this is team that we've supported for two other events this year. With the Internet of Things (IoT) becoming more of everyday life (think of your Bluetooth-connected car, the Alexa in your home or the  Siri in your phone), how we search and interact with digital technology is changing. A startup weekend focused on 54 hours of iterative solutions for these emerging needs, some that consumers might not even know they need. It's an exciting time for new businesses in this space. They printed up a  sticker sheet that have four peel offs, in a blue-and-light-green treatment, with the event branding a big type, and three themed stickers, a light bulb, the Startup Weekend beaker and a network connection that represents IoT. This will be an enjoyable sheet for attendees to get creative.

Startup Weekend Chihuahua

Heading north from Central Mexico, up next is Startup Weekend Chihuahua.

They are having a traditional Startup Weekend, which means 54 hours of brainstorming and creating products, services or business that are still-to-be discovered. There will be teams formed, ideas, pitched, mentoring given, and it all ends with a panel of judges who will assess the best of the best. Their sticker is a custom shaped die cut that features local architecture and a Startup Weekend lab person rocking a mustache. The crimson and burnt-red tone make for swatch that works well together for standout-branding.

Startup Weekend Aix-Marseille

Hopping the pond over to the southern coast of France to Technology of the Arbois in Aix-en-Provence for Startup Weekend Aix-Marseille. This team designed a striking purple sticker sheet that highlights five peel offs, one a Startup Weekend beaker, an event hashtag (#SWAM) and two square peels. The dominant element, other than the color, is a cicada, which is a well-known resident of Provence in the summer time, as their song echoes through the region in the bucolic afternoons of the French sojourn. We really enjoyed their Team page, with the custom faces that match the color of the sticker.

Sticker shoutout to social innovation in Zacatecas, female entrepreneurship in Guadalajara, and Travel Tech in NYC

We are heading to three Techstars events this weekend, with two Startup Weekends in Mexico and one in New York City. Each location has their own topic of concentration for the weekend, just like they each have a distinct sticker. There will be a couple colorful and creative sticker sheets and one custom die cut sticker at these events, and we are excited for all of these participants as they find inspiration and put their ideas into reality.

Teams will be composed of individuals that come from business, creative and software worlds. Over the weekend these groups will discuss and build the various components of the idea and possible business, taking into consideration administration, finance, marketing, technology, engineering, graphic and web design, architecture, animation, and art. This mix of talent and personality helps create the setting for innovation, and we'll start our tour of these events with the two in Mexico before traveling to a travel themed event in New York City.

Startup Weekend Women Guadalajara 2017

We are starting in the State of Jalisco in Western Mexico at Startup Weekend Women Guadalajara, where they seek to encourage women's participation in entrepreneurship and technology in a safe environment. Their sticker sheet features nine tear-offs, with Startup Weekend logos and branding, plus some Techstars love and a couple sponsor logos. What a great use of space to incorporate all of these kiss cuts (where the sticker gets cut, but not the backing) onto the sheet in one layout. Kudos to the design team.

Thank you to venue sponsor Reto Zapopan, which is a program promoted by the Municipal Government of Zapopan. This space provides entrepreneurs with resources in a comprehensive program that provide consulting, mentoring, financing, linking and internationalization. They are looking for entrepreneurs who stand out for their valuable ideas, companies and initiatives. And of course without the organizers, mentors and judges, there would be no event, so shoutout to them.

You can find the team on Twitter and on the hashtag #SWWomenGDL.

Startup Weekend Social Innovation in Zacatecas

Heading over to Zacatecas, the capital and largest city of the State of Zacatecas, for Startup Weekend Mega Centro (Vertical Innovación Social) 2017, where the central theme will be social development. They aspire to drive innovation in four key sectors for the economy of the center of the country. Their sticker sheet has seven peels, with the event name Mega Centro dominating the sheet, and two fun Startup Weekend beakers in magenta and black-tinged blue. There are four colorful stickers that have the four topics of Mobility, Travel, Social and Agroindustry that the teams will address. Again, the design team form SWCentro knocked it out of the park as far as economy of visuals, use of colors and keeping the event branding on point. Well done.

Without the location, this event couldn't take place (right?) and the Zacatecas campus of the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (or Tecnológico de Monterrey or simply as Tec), is providing the space for the creativity and energy of this gathering. This institution, known as ITESM has 31 campuses in 25 cities and it's one of the most academically recognized universities in the Spanish speaking world.

You can find the team on Twitter.

Startup Weekend Travel Tech New York 2017

Back up in the US, we are in the Big Apple with a slick custom die cut sticker that has a Startup Weekend beaker taking flight, which is perfect for this Travel and Tech themed edition. The lab people in the beaker are travel ready, and the plane is sitting on cloud in the sky that features the event branding. The whimsy on this sticker is just what carefree travel feels like, and this sticker will travel well. The team at Startup Weekend NYC team did a great job organizing and designing this event.

At Startup Weekend Travel Tech New York 2017, teams will be focusing on solving problems and filling gaps in the travel industry. The challenge from the organizers (thanks to them by the way!) is that teams will let their own experiences and desire for travel inspire them. The ideas can cover the gamut of tourism and travel, be it local or global.
Whether you have ideas to improve NYC subways systems or to make travel around the world easier, the ultimate objective of this event is to empower you to take any idea from concept to creation!

Big ups to Voyager HQ on 137 West 25th Street. They empower travel startup founders with connections to partner & investment opportunities, a clubhouse & coworking space in NYC, & industry professionals

You can find the team on Twitter and on the hashtag #nycsw.

Bringing die cut stickers to Startup Weekends in Indiana, Colorado, and Monaco

If it's a Friday, there's a chance that somewhere on Planet Earth a Startup Weekend of some kind is getting ready to crank into gear. In fact, we have three events this weekend, with an international location and two American college editions. There are some fun, iconic custom-shaped die cut stickers heading to the campuses of Purdue University and the University of Denver on American soil, and then we'll be heading to the Mediterranean coast in the city-state of Monaco.

For those who don't frequent our blog, we work with many of these events because they are all about turning ideas into businesses. The focus is on action, which is something we love to see. Participants validate a problem, form teams, develop a business model, and then craft and deliver a pitch to win prizes that might take their ideas to the next level. We support the educational process and the learning involved in these sessions, plus you can't beat the networking with other entrepreneurial-minded people as well as experienced entrepreneurs there as mentors during the process. At the end of the weekend, a panel of judges formed by experts provide teams the feedback to make your startup successful. It moves fast, and hopefully some ideas come to life. We can't wait to see what these folks build.

Let's get this sponsorship train rolling, but first: a big StickerGiant shout-out to all of the organizers, mentors, facilitators, and judges who help make these gatherings such a success and who help set up a generation of future entrepreneurs.

Startup Weekend Purdue University

First in West Lafayette, Indiana at Startup Weekend Purdue University, where a black rectangle sticker will be making the rounds. There's the classic Startup Weekend beaker logo with a custom crest in Kelly Green that features the initials ENT for the Epsilon Nu Tau, the co-ed entrepreneurship fraternity on campus. They are on Facebook at

Startup Weekend DU

Here in our home state of Colorado, The Daniel Felix Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Denver is hosting Startup DU, and the focus for this session will be ideas related to sustainability. There sticker is a pure event branding of the letters S and D with the full group name below. Our custom shape looks great on this die cut sticker, and it's small and portable for many possible options for application. Connect with them on Facebook at StartupWeekendDU.

Startup Weekend Monaco

In the beautiful south of France is the tiny nation-state of Monaco, where a red Startup Weekend Monaco sticker sheet with two fun custom circle event stickers will be getting placed on laptops and anywhere else that attendees want to show their love for their projects. We love this idea of placing two smaller stickers because it's a creative way to print many die-cut stickers. They have a local pattern on one sticker and their event hashtag and tagline. Really efficient, simple but also creative. Yet another reason why our Startup Weekend sponsorships are such a great reason to print custom stickers.

We look forward to seeing all of the projects that come to fruition!

Startup Weekend Chennai

We are traveling to Tamil Nadu state in India for our weekly sponsorship with this edition of Startup Weekend Chennai 2017. They went with a rectangle shaped custom sticker in a simple Kelly Green color and a Startup Weekend beaker design with their location tag below the art element. Then they feature the event name and their title sponsor, Google for Entrepreneurs.

Let's get into a little play-by-play for the three days ahead, since Startup Weekends start fast, move fast, and end fast. After all, it's only 54 hours from pitch to launch, so it means there's not a lot of time for talking and everyone is focused on one thing: action.

Friday everyone meets and all registered attendees pitch their ideas in an attempt to inspire others to join their teams. It’s a bit of a scrum as everyone sorts out what they want to work on. Saturday and Sunday is where the teams debate, build, pitch and build some more. They focus on building a prototype of their idea, whether it’s a software application or a physical device. During two-day period, teams will also focus on customer development by validating their ideas and practicing proven Techstars startup methodologies to build a minimum viable product.

Sunday night brings the big reveal, where teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of expert judges. Along the way there is plenty of collaboration and feedback from mentors and facilitators. We want to give a big thanks to the organizing team and fellow sponsors, and we wish everyone the best of luck as they innovate in Chennai.
