How to Choose a Food Packaging Label

Match your label to your packaging environment.

The right food packaging label depends on how your product is stored, handled, and applied. Consider exposure to moisture, refrigeration, oils, and frequent handling, along with whether labels will be applied by hand or with automated equipment.

For refrigerated or moisture-prone packaging, BOPP Laminated Labels offer added durability. Paper Labels work well for dry, indoor packaging when moisture resistance is less important, while PET Backing Labels are designed for reliable dispensing with automated labeling equipment.

Choose the label that best matches your storage conditions, durability needs, and application method.

Labels for Refrigerated Foods

Choose Laminated Labels for moisture resistance.

Laminated Labels are made with durable BOPP material and a protective lamination, making them a great choice for refrigerated foods, sauces, beverages, and other packaging exposed to moisture or condensation.

The laminated BOPP construction adds protection against water, oils, and everyday handling while helping your printed design stay vibrant.

Use them on jars, bottles, tubs, and other refrigerated food containers.

Material Options: White BOPP, Clear BOPP, and Holographic BOPP, available with glossy or matte lamination.

Need high-speed machine application? Choose White BOPP Labels with PET backing for smoother dispensing and reliable performance in automated labeling systems.

Labels for Dry Food Packaging

Choose Paper Labels for dry, indoor packaging.

Paper Labels are made from paper stock and finished with a UV-cured varnish rather than a laminate. They offer a classic or natural paper look and can be a more budget-friendly option for shelf-stable products.

They work well for coffee bags, snack pouches, bakery packaging, boxes, jars, and tins. Because paper tears more easily than BOPP film, Paper Labels can also work well for tamper-evident seals.

Unlike our BOPP Laminated Labels, Paper Labels are not designed to resist water or oils. For packaging exposed to moisture, refrigeration, oils, or heavier handling, Laminated Labels are the better option.

Material Options: Glossy Paper for bright, polished graphics; Matte Recycled Paper for a textured look; or Kraft Paper for a natural, handmade appearance.

Labels for Automated Packaging Lines

Choose PET Backing Labels for automated application.

PET Backing Labels are designed for reliable dispensing through automated labeling equipment.

The strong PET liner performs well during high-speed application, making it a great option for bottles, jars, cans, containers, and other high-volume food and beverage packaging.

Choose the roll finishing option required by your equipment: Top First, Bottom First, Right Side First, Left Side First, or No Preference. Check your machine’s required roll setup or wind direction before ordering.

Available Options: Glossy White BOPP or Matte White BOPP with PET backing.

Applying labels by hand? Choose standard paper backing instead.
